The City of Jackson is reminding residents that elections will be held this year for the Mayor and City Council representatives in Wards 1, 3, and 5.

If you are interested in running for these offices, the time to act is now.

The first step is filing paperwork with the City Clerk's Office. That paperwork, which includes nominating petitions, must be turned into the Clerk's Office by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 to qualify for the elections.

All the information residents need to know about running for these offices is listed on the Election Division page of the City website.

If more than two candidates successfully file to run for these offices, there will be a primary election held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 to narrow down the field of candidates to two. The General Election, which is the second and final election for these offices, will take place Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021.
