City of Jackson Launches “Eyes on the Block” Community Safety Ring Doorbell Program
Jackson, Michigan — The City of Jackson is launching “Eyes on the Block” Community Safety Ring Doorbell Camera Program. There are 47 applicants enrolled in the program at this time. This program is designed to create partnerships between community members and law enforcement to deter, detect, and help solve crime. Participation is voluntary.
This program will provide up to 100 residential or small-business Ring Doorbell cameras along with the first year subscription initially for Wards 1 and 2. Installation will be provided by the City of Jackson Community Development Department. Ring allows participants to upload videos anonymously to law enforcement.
“Eyes on the Block” is intended to strengthen neighborhood safety by allowing residents to voluntarily share video footage that may assist in investigations. The City of Jackson Police Department will not monitor cameras and does not have automatic access to any footage. Any video shared with law enforcement is provided only with a resident’s consent.
