Residents looking to get information about assistance for a new home or repairing their current house have an upcoming opportunity. The City of Jackson Human Relations Commission is hosting a Community Housing Event on Saturday, March 9 to inform residents on the City’s 100 Homes Program and Homeowner Rehabilitation Assistance Program.
Cory Mays from the City’s Community Development Department will share details on both programs at the meeting. Launched last year, the 100 Homes Program is constructing 100 new single-family homes on vacant lots by providing $25,000 in down payment assistance and connecting buyers to home builders. The Homeowner Rehabilitation Program offers a no interest, low repayment, short term loan to income-qualified homeowners to help avoid emergencies by replacing major home systems that are at or near the end of their useful life. There will also be representatives from County National Bank and TRUE Community Credit Union at the meeting to answer questions related to home financing.
The event is happening from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at the Christoff & Sons Floor Covering’s Conference Room, called the Toy House Community Room. Christoff & Sons is located at 400 N. Mechanic St.
