Here are highlights of the Feb. 7, 2023 City Council meeting:

  • The City Council voted to sell four city-owned vacant lots to a developer for the construction of four single-family homes. In recent years, the City Manager’s Office has been selling vacant lots to adjacent property owners. The City switched gears last year to selling the lots for new home construction to provide more housing and fill in neighborhoods.
  • W. North Street between N. Wisner Street and N. West Avenue could see a resurfacing project this year. The City Council held a hearing on the proposed project. More approvals are needed before the project is finalized.
  • S. MLK Drive is getting two new art pieces. At a meeting last month, the City Council voted to install a sculpture in the MLK Drive and Morrell Street roundabout. At tonight’s meeting, the council decided to place an additional sculpture south of High Street, where the pedestrian trail intersects MLK Drive. The installations will be complete later this year.

A recording of the meeting is included on this page.
