[ARCHIVED] Bridge work starts construction season in Jackson

Jackson street bridge

The 2022 construction season is getting an early start with construction on three bridges in Jackson. All of the projects are being done by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and no City funds are being used.

On Monday, March 14, MDOT is starting work to replace two railroad bridges in Downtown Jackson that go over N. Mechanic and N. Jackson streets. On the east end of downtown, MDOT is also starting construction on a new bridge over the Grand River for E. Washington Avenue.

The construction on all three bridges means these streets will close to vehicle traffic during the construction. MDOT plans on completing construction on the rail bridges by fall 2022. The E. Washington Avenue bridge is set to reopen in May.
