Local kids are getting lots of warmth from Jackson firefighters. City of Jackson and Summit Township fire crews raised more than $3,000 to buy and giveaway coats for free to kids in need.
The firefighters distributed coats at Cascades Elementary School on Wednesday, Jan. 5. A total of 94 coats are going to kids in the Vandercook Lake Public Schools and Jackson Public Schools districts.
Firefighters did this coat giveaway in 2019, but took 2020 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They raised the money through golf outings and other fundraisers.
