[ARCHIVED] Jackson City Council April 13 Virtual Meeting

Jackson City Council Meeting April 13 2021

The Jackson City Council held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, April 13. Here are highlights of what was decided:

  • The City Council approved a resolution that allows the City Manager to waive certain permit fees. This is to alleviate financial strains brought on by the pandemic. It will be used to waive fees for marriage licenses, false alarm fees, and for downtown restaurants to use sidewalk and street space for outdoor dining. A similar resolution was approved last year.
  • Fireworks will burst over Jackson once again this summer. The City Council approved fireworks shows at the Cascades Park for the Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day holidays. These events are organized by Jackson County, but they require City approval. All three fireworks events were canceled last year due to the pandemic.
  • The City Council discussed at length a Neighborhood Association Ordinance that would allow residents to form neighborhood organizations that are affiliated with the City. The council decided to postpone consideration until the first meeting in May.

A recording of the April 13 virtual meeting is available on this web page.
