Elections for City Council seats in Wards 1, 3 and 5 are taking place this year. If you'd like to be a candidate for these offices, there are some important details to know.

The deadline to file paperwork to qualify for the Aug. Primary Election is Tuesday, April 22 at 4:00 p.m. The City Clerk's Office encourages residents to file their paperwork as soon as possible so any potential issue with the documents can be resolved before the deadline.

The City Clerk's Office, which is located on the First Floor of City Hall, 161 W. Michigan Ave., has packets available for residents interested in running for office in the City of Jackson. You must be a resident of the ward you are running to represent on the City Council. A City of Jackson ward map is available on the City website.

After a successful filing with the City Clerk's Office, candidates will proceed to the Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 Primary Election. The top two candidates with the most votes in each ward election will move forward to the Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025 Election, where the City Council seats will be officially decided by voters.
