The City of Jackson's pedestrian trail network continues to grow. At their Feb. 11 meeting, the City Council approved a plan to use federal funds for the construction of a new trail that will connect Ella Sharp Park and the MLK Equality Trail.
The trail extension will run along W. South Street between First and S. Jackson streets. This new addition will further increase pedestrian access and connect the City's largest public park to our main pedestrian trail.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is contracted to install the trail, along with replacing a section of the MLK Equality Trail that runs from Merriman Street to S. MLK Drive. Construction on both trail sections will take place in summer 2025.
