[ARCHIVED] City crews working to remove large number of downed trees following storm

Blocked street in Jackson Aug. 25, 2023

The City of Jackson is responding to multiple reports of downed trees and wires blocking streets after Thursday night's storm. The Dept. of Public Works has multiple crews out clearing streets. Some areas cannot receive attention until Consumers Energy goes takes care of downed power lines.

You're encouraged to stay away from any downed power lines and report them to Consumers by calling 800-477-5050.

Public Works is prioritizing clearing streets first, and then will focus on cleaning up trees from streets, parkways and sidewalks. This process could take up to one week to complete. Crews will not accept tree debris from private property, so please do not place limbs and branches along streets from your own yard.

To report a blocked street or sidewalk in the City of Jackson, please call the Dept. of Public Works at 517-788-4170.
