[ARCHIVED] Easter Egg Hunt planned for Jackson kids on Saturday, April 8

Kids in Jackson have an opportunity to hop into some fun this Easter weekend. The City of Jackson is planning a community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. in Horace Blackman Park

Families can enjoy free Easter eggs filled with candy scattered around the park in Downtown Jackson. There will also be prizes, photos with the Easter Bunny, and the opportunity to meet Jackson police officers and firefighters.

The Group Violence Intervention (GVI) program of the Jackson Police Department is working with the Parks and Recreation Department to hold this fun-filled event for the community. GVI previously organized the police department’s Thanksgiving Turkey Drive-Thru event, which gave out 150 free turkeys to local families in Nov. 2022.  “We’re looking forward to providing some family fun this holiday weekend and giving kids the chance to meet the officers and firefighters who keep our community safe,” said GVI Coordinator Cheryl Ragland.

The egg hunt will go in two waves, with ages 3 to 5 starting at 10 a.m. and ages 6 to 8 at 11:00 a.m. Because this is a City-sponsored event, it is only open to City of Jackson residents. Horace Blackman Park is located at 200 W. Michigan Ave.
