The City of Jackson encourages residents to help share the following updates related to support services for individuals displaced by the Reed Manor fire. Community partners and nonprofit organizations continue working together to support residents and connect them with available resources.

The City of Jackson is partnering with Reed Manor management and the American Red Cross to help reconnect displaced residents with recovery resources and support. Some residents may not have had updated contact information on file, or may have left their phones or personal items behind during the fire. The Secretary of State will be at Reed Manor March 20, from 12–2 PM to help residents displaced by the fire replace their driver’s licenses and state IDs free of charge.

Displaced Reed Manor residents are encouraged to connect with staff at Reed Manor or the Red Cross shelter at St. John’s UCC on Mechanic Street. This helps ensure residents are connected with available resources and support services as needs continue to emerge.

Residents who receive SNAP food assistance and lost groceries in the Reed Manor fire may qualify for replacement benefits through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
DHHS staff will be available on March 20, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Red Cross shelter at St. John’s UCC (801 S. Mechanic St.) to assist residents with replacement food benefits, Bridge Cards, applications, and other emergency assistance.
