Before improvements are planned at two neighborhood parks, the City of Jackson is looking to get resident feedback. The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is planning two community meetings to engage neighbors on what changes they’d like to see at Exchange and Rotary parks.
The community meeting for Exchange Park is happening Tuesday, Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m. at the MLK Recreation Center, 1107 Adrian St. Rotary Park will be the focus of the second community meeting planned for Thursday, Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m. at the Boos Recreation Center, 210 Gilbert St.
Exchange Park, located on E. Mansion Street, is tucked into Jackson’s south side neighborhood. The park takes up one block and features a playground, basketball court, ball field, and green space. Rotary Park can be found on Jackson’s east side between Deyo and Plymouth streets. It also features a playground, basketball court, ball field, and green space.
“It’s important for our department to understand how neighbors use these parks and what features they’d like to see in the future,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kelli Hoover. “Both Exchange and Rotary need to be updated so they can continue to be attractive gathering places. That work starts with neighbors telling us what new features they’d like to see.”
All Jackson residents are welcome to attend the meetings. The City of Jackson maintains 28 public parks and a pedestrian trail system for residents to use throughout the year.
