Greenwood Avenue in the City of Jackson is closing to traffic on Thursday, May 30 for an urgent tree removal. The Department of Public Works is closing the street from Union Street to First Street so crews can safely remove a tree that’s posing a safety hazard to homes, vehicles and pedestrians.

The closure will begin the morning of Thursday, May 30 and is likely to last through the afternoon of Friday, May 31. Greenwood Avenue is located southwest of Downtown Jackson and connects southwest side neighborhoods to the downtown area. Drivers are advised to please plan alternate routes around the closure. Updates about the closure will be posted on the City’s Facebok page and website.
