Horace Blackman Park
Horace Blackman Park is the center of life in Jackson. This is where a lot of community events take place throughout the year. It features the TRUE Community Credit Union City Square, tables, seating, playground equipment, green space, and monuments.
It is named for Horace Blackman, an early settler of Jackson. This is the City's oldest park and is part of the original town square. The park was enlarged following the removal of the old Consumers Energy headquarters, allowing the City Square to take shape.
The City Square features a mural created by famous artist Glidden Parker that was once displayed in the lobby of the Consumers Energy building. The mural is beautiful when illuminated at night! The other side of the City Square holds an art showcase that has rotating exhibits.
