Numerous community and athletic events are held at the park throughout the year.  Applications to reserve a pavilion or hold a wedding event at the park are included with this listing. 

The park is named for Ella Sharp, a prominent Jackson resident who donated her family farm property to the City of Jackson for use as a park in 1913. Her historic home is now part of the Ella Sharp Museum complex.
