Jackson residents wanting to donate toys for kids in need this holiday season have a convenient location to drop off donations. The Jackson Police Department headquarters at 216 E. Washington Ave. is a designated Toys for Tots drop off site.

Toys for Tots is an annual program from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that collects toys for children in need during the holiday season. Residents are welcome to use a donation box in the police department lobby to submit donations. The lobby is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted through Monday, Dec. 11.

Only new, unwrapped toys for ages 0-15 years old will be accepted. Once collected by the Toys for Tots organization, the donations will be distributed to to various non-profit organizations in Jackson County so they can be given to kids in need. This is the first year the Jackson Police Department is participating in the Toys for Tots program.
