Elections in the City of Jackson are administered by the Jackson City Clerk's Office

Upcoming Election 
The August Primary Election is happening Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019. In the City of Jackson, the only item that will appear on ballots is the primary election for the citywide Mayoral Election. The top two candidates will then move onto the November General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019.  

The City Clerk's Office will be open on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pre-election weekend hours. 

August, 2019 Primary Election Dates to Remember


  1. There are new rules from the State of Michigan regarding when voter registration can take place before an election. Click on the link to learn about New Rights for Michigan Voters ahead of the August Primary election. 
  2. Voters may obtain an absent voter ballot via First Class mail up to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2. 
  3. The City Clerk's Office will be open on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pre-election weekend hours.
  4. Voters may obtain an absent voter ballot in person in the Clerk's Office up to 4 p.m. on Monday, August 5.  
  5. The August 2019 Primary Election is being held on Tuesday, August 6.

  • WARD 2: Boos Center - Loomis Park, 210 Gilbert St.
  • WARD 3: St. John's Parish Center, 711 N. Francis St.
  • WARD 4: First Presbyterian Church, 743 W. Michigan Ave.
  • WARD 5: St. John's United Center for Caring, 801 S. Mechanic St.
  • WARD 6: Cascades Baptist Church, 1012 W. High St.
All polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
