The City of Jackson offers a grant for landlords to help avoid emergencies by replacing major home systems that are at or near the end of their effective useful life.
Major Component Replacement
Used to repair certain major components that have outlived or are nearing the end of their effective useful life before they become an emergency.
Major Components may include, but is not limited to, the following:
To be eligible, you must be current on all property taxes, special assessments, utilities, mortgages, etc. Eligible properties can have up to FOUR units. The combined household income of the tenants in impacted units cannot exceed the amounts listed in the included table, based on the number of people living in the home (both adults and children).
Maximum grant amount of $25,000
Match required: 25% of total project costs (placed in escrow with the City before work begins)
Landlords must agree to a 5-year affordability period, during which time rent may not increase for current/future tenants.
All hazards must be repaired up to City Code
Only units with tenants whose household income is less than 80% of median income are eligible, as defined by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
