Ward 3 is home to Jackson’s fairgrounds as well as Armory Arts Village. Every year thousands of people from all over Michigan flock to the fairgrounds to check out the Jackson County Fair. The fairgrounds main event every year is the Jackson County Fair, held in August every year. The fair is celebrating its 159th year in 2012 and offers exciting rides, games, contests as well as great local and international events. Other events held at the fairgrounds include Beerfest, Rockapalooza and the circus.
Armory Arts Village is Jackson’s own resident artist community a redevelopment project located on the site of Jackson State Prison. The next phase of the project involves constructing a multi-use senior housing development as well as retail venues including a coffee shop, sandwich shop and art gallery.
Ward 3 also attracts thousands each year the St. Joseph Catholic Church’s Heritage Festival. The festival, held during the last week in July celebrates Polish culture and tradition including polka music and traditional Polish food.
