Activity for April 27, 2012 through April 29, 2012

Friday, April 27, 2012:

Officers made 7 arrests, conducted 16 traffic stops, and were dispatched to 90 calls for service.

Officers were sent to Sears and Target in the Jackson Crossing for shoplifters.  One of three suspects was located and some of the stolen merchandise was recovered.

Officer Burkart made a traffic stop near Jackson and Biddle where the driver was arrested for OWI.

Officer Brant gave a presentation at the Church of God.

Officer Burkart was sent to the 600 block of Third St. for a B&E.  An unknown suspect entered the home through a window and stole a TV and electronic items.

Officer Postma was contacted by a subject who found a purse in the bushes in the 800 block of Everhard.

Officer Burkart was sent to the area of Francis and Morrell for a fight.  One juvenile was arrested for disorderly contact, and eventually turned over to her mother.

While on patrol, Officer Postma heard several people arguing.  They all began to leave the area upon his arrival except for one subject who was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Saturday, April 28, 2012:

Officers made 6 arrests, conducted 36 traffic stops, and were dispatched to 67 calls for service.

Officers Scarpino and Burkart each walked through the Michigan Theatre during a concern.

Officers Brant and Postma were sent to the area of Hollis and Jackson for possible shots fired.  They checked the area but found nothing to substantiate the call.

Officer Brant was dispatched to the parking lot at Target for several juveniles attempting to gain entry into cars parked in the lot.  Upon his arrival the juveniles had already left.

Officers Scarpino and Postma were sent to the 600 block of Chester for shots fired.  The area was checked with nothing found to substantiate the call.

Officer Brant was sent to the 1100 block of E. Ganson for a suspicious subject looking in the windows of several businesses.  He checked the area but found nothing suspicious.

Officer Goings and the Jackson Fire Department are investigating a fire in the 1200 block of S. Jackson St.

Officer Burkart made a traffic stop and arrested the driver on two outstanding warrants and OWI.

Sunday, April 29, 2012:

Officers made 6 arrests, conducted 4 traffic stops, and were dispatched to 72 calls for service.

Officers were sent to Kutcha’s Party Store for a B&E.  The suspect broke out a window in the door and entered the store, stealing several pieces of merchandise from the store including alcohol and cigarettes.

Officers are also investigating similar B&Es in the 100 and 400 blocks of N. Elm.  Nothing appeared to be taken from either of those locations.

Officer Black was dispatched to Sears for a shoplifter.  The suspect was arrested on three outstanding warrants.

Officer Kingston was sent to investigate a vehicle which had been parked in the 1000 block of Ellery for several days.  The vehicle had been reported through the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer Brant arrested a suspect possibly involved in the earlier B&Es.  The investigation is ongoing.

Officers were sent to the 600 block of Francis for a possible B&E.  Neighbors reported seeing subjects inside the vacant residence.  Upon arrival, the subject fled from the officers.  There were no signs of forced entry into the residence.

Officers were sent to the 300 block of Steward for an attempted B&E.  An unknown person attempted to force open an apartment door. 

Officer Burkart conducted foot patrol in PACT D2.

Officer Burkart was sent to Frank’s Finer Foods for counterfeit money.
