Christopher Simpson

Lieutenant Christopher SimpsonChristopher Simpson was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Jackson, Michigan.

He began his career with the Jackson Police Department in 1991 as a police cadet. He attended Lansing Community College’s Police Academy and was promoted to patrol officer in 1992.

As a patrol officer he was assigned to the CRAC drug enforcement unit from 1994 until 1998, and served as the Jackson High School Liaison Officer from 1998 until 2000. He was then assigned to the current drug enforcement team, JNET, in 1999.

In 2001, Simpson was promoted to sergeant, and was assigned as the Jackson Police Department’s training sergeant from 2003 to 2006.

Lt. Simpson was a member of the Special Response Team since 1993 until 2009 and is a member of the Jackson Police Department Honor Guard. He is currently the Honor Guard’s coordinator.

In June 2008, he was promoted to lieutenant.

Lt. Simpson graduated from Jackson High School, earned an associate’s degree from Jackson Community College in 1992, received his bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University in 1999, and earned his Master's Degree from Spring Arbor University. He also graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and graduated the FBI National Academy in 2011.

Lt. Simpson’s involvement outside of the police department includes:

  • Jackson County NAACP Board Member
  • Baker College Criminal Justice Advisory Board Member
  • First Sergeant (E-8) in Michigan National Guard
  • Served four years active duty as infantryman at Fort Ord, California
  • Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran
