Park Information

The City of Jackson Parks, Recreation and Grounds Department is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of 22 parks located throughout the City limits. You can find a list of all our parks and their amenities here.

We are continually working to better the experience you have at all of our parks. Since 2000, we’ve completed a number of upgrades and renovations, including:

Betsy Butterfield Park – 2000

• Complete redesign of park, including new landscaping, playground structure, water feature and a charming statue of children at play.

Ella Sharp Park – 2001

• Golf course restoration and redesign
• Professionally developed landscaping plan for main Park entrance, which included new signage, additional trees and beautiful flowering shrubs

Nixon Park – 2001

• New skateboard park
• New full-size inline hockey rink
• Removal of old swimming pool
• Addition of water park, featuring zero-depth pool and water slides

Martin Luther King Center – 2003

• Community-built playground

Future renovation projects, like the beautification of the Grand River with an inter-city trail and possible amphitheater, are always in the works. Stay tuned to this page for additional updates on current and future developments of the Parks in the City of Jackson.
