Members of the Historic District Commission (HDC) are chosen by the Mayor of Jackson, and are confirmed by the City Council. Each member serves a term of three years, after which they can be reappointed to additional terms. Of the seven members which make up the Commission, two must be associated with organized local historical and/or preservation societies and one must be an architect, or graduate of an accredited school of architecture, with at least two years of experience (if such a person is available).
