City of Jackson

Permits for Work in Right-Of-Way

Any individual or contractor who works in the city right-of-way needs to obtain a permit from the Department of Engineering. Permits are required for sewer, sidewalks, sprinklers, drive approaches, monitoring wells and dumpsters. Permit Applications and Forms can be downloaded below. Since all sidewalk work is overseen by the Department of Public Works, please contact that office at 788-4170 for details of the work you plan.

A bond is also required for pavement cuts, curb work and digging in the street. The contractor must be prequalified or provide a Maintenance and Guarantee Bond.

For any right-of-way work involving water services, please contact the Water Department (788-4090). Industrial users must also contact the Wastewater Treatment Plant for authorization (788-4075).
