The current staffing of

commercial, and industrial accounts. The Water

portions of the surrounding townships of Blackman, Leoni,
and Summit. During the previous year the Water
Department pumped over 2.4 billion gallons of water to
approximately 50,000 individuals, fire suppression, and
industrial purposes.
The City of Jackson Water Services continues to
participate in a countywide Wellhead Protection Program
to protect our drinking water from contamination.
Watershed Delineation Study was completed. Efforts will
continue to develop a county wide Wellhead Protection
education program. To protect the City’s drinking water
well recharge areas, the Water Services Division has
received from to the State a Well Abandonment Grant.
This grant will allow the City to ensure that abandoned
wells within the City’s well recharge areas are properly
sealed to prevent contaminants reaching the aquifer
through those wells and polluting the City’s Drinking
water. In cooperation with Summit Township, the City has
hired STS Consultants to locate as many abandoned wells
as possible. For further information call (517)
