No
person occupying any premises, and no person owning any unoccupied
premises, shall permit growth to a height greater than eight inches of
noxious weeds, grass or other vegetation. Also, the owner shall not allow
accumulation of dead noxious weeds, grass or brush on their premises.
Notice will be published in the Jackson Citizen Patriot in March of each
year of the need to comply with this ordinance. If removal of such weeds,
grass or other vegetation is not accomplished by the property owner or
occupant the Director of Public Works shall arrange mowing or removal and
the property owner will be invoiced.
Noxious weeds include, but are not limited to, Canada thistle (Circium
arvense), dodders (any species of Cuscuta), mustards (charlock, black
mustard and Indian mustard, species of Brassica or Sinapis), wild carrot (Daucus
carota), bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), perennial sowthistle (Sonchus
arvensis), hoary alyssum (Berteroa icana), ragweed (ambrosia elatior 1.)
and poison ivy (rhus toxicodendron), poison sumac (toxicodendron vernix)
or other plant which in the opinion of the city forester or his or her
designee is regarded as a common nuisance.
