Sewer
Smells - Such smells can be the result of
drains drying and gasses coming through the pipes. Pouring water down the
floor drains will often get rid of this smell. If problem persists, call
Public Works at 788-4170.
For sewer backup into your home, call 788-4170 before calling a plumber or
independent sewer sanitation company. We will send the sewer truck driver
to check the main sewer line for your area to be sure it is running
freely. We suggest you leave a phone number where you can be reached at
the time of your telephone call, in order for our crew members to report
their findings back to the property owner or occupant. If an independent
agent is needed, we will so advise.
The Department of Public Works has a sewer televising camera truck. When
necessary, we have a robotic camera that views the sewer main showing
where problems such as tree roots. We are able to videotape the sewers for
reference and be proactive with maintenance issues.
