HOME SAFETY SURVEY & SMOKE DETECTOR PROGRAM

| This
year a program called the “Peace of Mind” Project was initiated as
an ongoing project that addresses the goal of a working smoke alarm in
every home. In cooperation
with the American Red Cross, American One Federal Credit Union and
Lowe’s, the Jackson Fire Department has started putting free smoke
alarms in every home that allows us to do a home safety survey.
We are also working closely with the deaf and hard of hearing
concerning their special needs in an emergency by providing strobe
equipped smoke alarms purchased with US Fire Administration grant money.
