| The City Attorney's office is a full
service law office, delivering a complete range of legal services to the
City's elected and appointed officials and department heads. The
City's legal department consists of the City Attorney, two Assistant
City Attorneys, and two legal support professionals.
The Department's usual duties include:
- Handling approximately 2,000 District Court
prosecutions annually;
- Defending the City and its officials against
lawsuits;
- Reviewing insurance claims;
- Administering the insurance programs of the
City;
- Dealing with citizen complaints;
- Collecting accounts receivable and
- Handling the defense of a number of property
tax cases instituted against the City.
In addition, all resolutions, ordinances,
contracts, and real estate documents dealing with the City are written
or reviewed by this office.
