Plan Review and Permits

The Department of Community Development plans for new construction, issues building permits and inspects the work covered by those permits to those looking to build upon property in the City of Jackson. These permits can be issued within 24 hours if all information meets the requirements. Contractors must also be registered by the Department before breaking ground on any project. To register, contractors must bring their State of Michigan certification, along with the appropriate fee, to the Department.
