The City Manager for the City of Jackson is Laurence Shaffer. He was appointed by the City Council effective June 1, 2011. As City Manager, Larry reports to the City Council and administers the operations of the City. The City Manager also implements general policy guidelines established by the City Council. The City Manager is responsible for conducting studies and making policy recommendations to the Mayor and City Council.
In addition, the City Manager has the responsibility to enforce all laws and ordinances, appoint department heads, and prepare recommendations to the City Council on the annual City of Jackson budget.
